Education at "The Garden"
About the man...
Born in New York in 1960, David Rogers began making mobiles out of timber when
he was 15 years old. He apprenticed as a wooden boat builder, then cabinetmaker,
and went on to design rustic garden furniture and decor. David Rogers first
conceived of Big Bugs in 1991. Since 1994, Rogers has taken his exhibit to 40
different venues in the U.S.
"These little creatures, which we often take for granted, outnumber us millions to one. Their ranks include engineers, soldiers, weightlifters, weavers, hunters, stalkers, gatherers, and even royalty. When you take these remarkable and diverse 'hidden gardeners,' and recreate them on a gargantuan scale using all-natural materials, you have big bugs. The effect is a role reversal of dimension and perception."
David Rogers
